WMC 2014 > contact > Press material
Named after Joachim Winckelmann, a man from Stendal commonly considered as the founder of scientific archaeology, the Winckelmanncup takes place every year since 1991 and with meanwhile 48 teams from nearly a dozen countries it classifies as a spectacle lasting several days long. About 600 people, normally working below ground level, will scurry over football pitches in the Rhineland for the three days during the summer of 2014.
