WMC 2014 > Tournament > registration
The application phase for the WMC 2014 is officially over! We're looking forward to hosting all 51 teams registered for the WMC 2014 in the Rhineland!
In case of questions, requests or spontaneous emotional releases, make use of our contact form or the forum, please!
General
The registration for this year's Winckelmanncup will take place online via this site as already traditionally and is possible from 15th April until the end of April. Because of organisational reasons, the number of participants has to be limited to a maximum of 48 teams. If this number is reached ahead of time do not give up hope and registrate your time anyway, please - in case of cancellations, these teams will move up!
We're well aware that the CIL and RE toughened fingers of every scholar in classical and ancient studies itch to send their own team on the football and batlle ground at the glorious Winckelmanncup. However, we'd like to keep the list of participators as diversified as possible and ask you not to send more than one team per institution on the pitch and to flock together to a football union in case of two mini teams (warning: sport and party injuries!).
Eligibility for participation
Eligible for participation in the tournament are all students and lecturers of classical and ancient studies as well as persons who work in the archaeological field (e.g. in a museum or at excavations). There is no objection against guest players - however, not more than two players who are not from the field of classical and ancient studies are allowed on the field at any given time. In case of blatant infringements, we reserve the right to exclude the team from the tournament. Respect the detailed participation conditions, please!
Participation fee
"In those days Caesar Augustus declared that everyone throughout the empire should be enrolled in the tax lists." At least everyone interested in participating in the Winckelmanncup. Of course, any tax might upset the stomach of those who have to fork it up. However, we have to collect a small visitor's tax in order to more or less cover the expenses for the tournament. All participants have to pay a participation fee of 15€. The same is true for persons who will attend the tournament for the complete weekend without actively participating in the football games on the pitch. Unfortunately, the inflation and the fact that we have to organise and advance money for the whole tournament due to the lack of a host club make this gentle increase necessary. Possible surplus funds will be directly passed back via a further cut of the prices for drinks and food. This fee includes breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning and a handy starter kit for the weekend.
Every team (normally consisting of at least 7 players) has to transfer the participation fee to the bank account mentioned in the invitation until May 15th. If the obolus doesn't make itself comfortable at our bank account until then, we would have to let the teams from the waiting list succeed. In case of upcoming problems to transfer the money in time, please get in contact with us on time, and we'll solve the issues. Individual (sic!) players and supporters can of course register late at the WMC itself.
